33 Speedstar

This 33 Speedstar is one beautiful ride! Built by Greg Tope and his staff at Performance Car Craft, they won first place at the World of Wheels show in Houston this past year. The folks at Performance build some very cool cars. Greg wanted us to build some Prolite wheels in sizes 17×7 and 20×12 with ceramic clear over the polished finish. Good call, this keeps the wheel finish like new from day one. Wheels are wrapped with Toyo Proxes T1R tires for a clean staggered stance. The Speedstar is powered by an injected LS3 motor producing 480 HP, linked to a four speed 700 R4 transmission. Independent front and rear suspension built by Kugel Komponents. Check out more images of the Speedstar here.

Rick’s 5th Gen…

Rick asked if we could do something really different for his 2011 Camaro SS that would tie together the SS theme and Inferno Orange color. He wanted a unique wheel with many styling features and details. Hence, the Lateral-g design with special accents added such as; brushed satin center with satin black color added to the spoke area, powder coat inner and outer rim surface in semi gloss black, engrave the cap with SS logo in Inferno Orange and matching pinstripe on rim lip. A maximum detailed project to achieve that special one off look for his ride. Wheel and tire sizes: front 20×9.0 with 275/40-20 and rear 20×10.5 with 315/35-20. Tire brand Vredstei Ultrac Sessanta and profile lowered with BMR suspension kit. Other extras to this project are: K&N intake, Magnaflow exhaust and TSP headers.

A Family Affair…

From Father to Son to Grandson, Buddy Davis has worked on this beautiful 1969 GTO Judge with his father and his son. In 1982 Buddy’s dad gave him this GTO, they started working on it and had it running by his 16th birthday. By the mid-90′s Buddy put the car is storage with the hope of restoring someday. Finally in 2004 the restoration started, stripping the car to the frame with all parts sand blasted and powder coated. At the same time he began the body work and adding upgrades; complete rebuild of the rear end, installed a Muncie 4-speed transmission, rebuild the engine, added new glass and interior parts from Just Dashes, and installed CPP disc brakes on all four corners. Once these projects were completed, it was time to add tires and wheels as that final touch! Buddy decided to go with Boze Velocity wheels in full polish finish, sizes 18×8 and 18×10. Wrapped with Bridgestone Potenza 245/45R-18 front and 275/45R-18 rear. He recently went to his first show in Philadelphia, the Northeast Custom Car Show, which he won first place – Best Muscle Car. At the show he meet Rick Markko, who invited him to display his GTO at the GM Nationals on June 24th 2011. Now Buddy’s son cannot wait to turn 16, so he start driving the Judge.

Lateral-g

Filed under: Projects — admin @ 4:40 pm

Scott Gulbranson from “The G-Machine Network” gave us a call regarding his First Gen Camaro project. By the way, Scott runs a really great website for the Pro Touring and Muscle Car enthusiast, check it out at www.lateral-g.net.  It was only appropriate that we build the Lateral-g style wheels for his Pro Touring 1969 Camaro in 18×10 and 18×12 sizes. The wheels are wrapped by BFG KDW-2 tires in sizes 275/35ZR-18 and 335/30ZR-18 for that pure muscle look. Also, the brake package has been upgraded to the C6 Z06 which requires more clearance area in rear of wheel. Scott upgraded the suspension with the DSE Hydroformed Subframe up front and the Quadralink with mini tub in rear. We appreciate Scott choosing us be part of this special project.

Below are more details on this custom project:

LS7, dry sump, Katech cam, 1 7/8″ headers, Nitrous Express MAF nitrous system
T56 6 speed from Rockland Standard
Currie 9″ rear, Detroit TrueTrac, 3.70 gears
DSE Quadralink rear suspension
DSE Hydroformed subframe
C6 ZO6 brakes with Hydratech hydraulic assist
Auto Meter Ultra Lite II guages
Mini-tubbed

Boze Lateral-g wheels
BFGoodrich KDW-2 tires, 335/30/18 and 275/35/18

Survivor Camaro

This sinister black ‘69 Camaro was built by Colby Donaldson of “Survivor” fame and the host of the History Channel “Top Shot” TV show. Colby stopped by our shop this past year, and asked if we could build some special size wheels for his muscle car project. He wanted the Boost 3-piece wheels, in sizes 18×8.5 and 20×11 with gunmetal powder coated centers, but wanted to produce his own caps (hence, the three bar wing caps were machined at his shop). Colby added a mini tub to fit the Continental Sport Contact 315/35ZR-20 tires and four-link suspension in the rear. In the front, Wilwood six piston brakes with 2” drop spindles, along with double-adjustable Air Ride Shock Wave parts. Many other custom upgrades inside and out on this cool ride. For more details on this project, check out the current May 2011 issue of Camaro Performers magazine.

Simply Smooth…

Filed under: Custom Fitments,Projects,Special Finishes — admin @ 6:00 pm

This smooth ’67 Chevelle is owned by Buddy Shores and built by Goolsby Customs in Alabama. We had an opportunity to meet these guys at the Optima Street Car event after the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. This car is extremely impressive to see up close – to witness the craftsmanship and view the clean smooth lines of this custom Chevy.  They asked if we could build a big bold wheel for the fat tires in the rear, but match the dark smooth theme. So we decided on the ZE Tach design and combine the smooth brushed satin rim and the charcoal textured center. This car was featured in the November 2010 issue of Super Chevy magazine, check out the story and other details here.

Georgia Peach

Filed under: Custom Fitments,Special Finishes — admin @ 4:43 pm

Built in Georgia by David Crumley, there is no peach fuzz on this all muscle 1969 Camaro. The engine, a Merlin 572 motor that cranks out 750 HP, was built by Garry Grimes. To keep this First Gen on the ground, David asked us to build an extra wide wheel for the rear. Since the rear fender had a DSE mini tub in place, we were able to fit a 20×12 Tach wheel in the pocket. We added the brushed satin finish to the rim area for that machined performance look.

Check out the list of cool upgrades:

Baer brakes 4 piston 13” rotors

QA1 adjustable coil over shocks

HID headlights

Stinger fiberglass hood

Strange axles

Moon mechanical lock rear-end

Pirelli P Zero tires 245/40ZR-18 and 315/30ZR-20

ZE Forged Tach wheels 18×8 and 20×12
